Both checkpoints will be open for one month, until January 14, 2024.
Since December 14, the Finnish side has lifted restrictions on cargo and passenger traffic through the Torfyanovka MAPP and the Vartsil MAPP, the press service of the Finnish Cabinet of Ministers reports.
It is clarified that from midnight to 8 a.m. on December 14, 24 trucks (7 entered the Russian Federation, 17 left), 190 passenger cars (136 and 54 respectively), 3 buses (1 entered the Russian Federation, 2 left), 348 individuals (250 and 98 respectively).
There are a total of eight checkpoints on the Finnish-Russian border, the remaining six will be closed until January 14, 2024.
According to the representative of the Finnish Border Service Mikko Lehmus, Finland decided to open these border crossing points, as they are the most convenient for people living on both sides of the border and periodically visiting their relatives. In addition, the checkpoints are most suitable for diplomatic and cargo transportation.
