The Subcommittee on Customs and Tariff Regulation approved the zeroing of customs duties on the import of 1.2 billion eggs into Russia, the press service of the Ministry of Economic Development reports.
The ministry noted that the benefit will be provided subject to confirmation of the intended purpose of imported goods.
In the short term, such actions will help to balance the domestic market and ensure supply growth, the ministry explains.
This measure is temporary and will be in effect from January 1 to June 30, 2024.
The first deliveries are expected from Azerbaijan this week. Eggs will also have to be imported from Turkey. The department expects that prices will stabilize for this product in the coming month.
Recall that egg prices, against the background of a significant increase in demand, have increased markedly since the beginning of the year: according to the latest data from Rosstat, by December 4 — by 42.4%. To stabilize the situation, the authorities have taken certain measures — starting from supporting manufacturers and encouraging them to conclude long-term contracts with retailers and ending with inspections by supervisory authorities, RIA Novosti reports.
