A temporary ban on the export of rice and rice cereals is being extended in Russia. The decree was signed by the Chairman of the Government of the Russian Federation Mikhail Mishustin, the Cabinet of Ministers reports.
"A number of exceptions are provided for the ban on the export of rice and rice cereals. Thus, it will not apply to the supply of these products to the member states of the Eurasian Economic Union, as well as Abkhazia and South Ossetia. In addition, rice and rice groats can be sent abroad for humanitarian assistance, as well as within the framework of international transit transportation," the decree says.
Recall that a temporary ban on the export of rice and rice cereals was introduced in 2023 by the decision of the subcommittee on customs tariff and non-tariff regulation, protective measures in foreign trade of the Government Commission for Economic Development and Integration.
The restriction will be in effect until June 30, 2024. The decision was made to maintain stability in the domestic market, the resolution emphasizes.
By another decree, the Government established tariff quotas for duty-free export of grain crops, sunflower oil and sunflower meal from the Donetsk and Lugansk People's Republics, as well as the Zaporozhye and Kherson regions.
According to the signed resolution, from January 1, 2024, the quota for the export of grain crops (wheat and meslin, barley, corn) will amount to 2.1 million tons, for the export of sunflower oil – 106.5 thousand tons, sunflower meal – 140.9 thousand tons.
The quotas will be valid until December 31, 2024. The decision was made taking into account the sufficient provision of the domestic market with such products and will allow manufacturers from new regions to be supported, as they will be able to carry out additional deliveries of their products abroad.
