The Ministry of Agriculture of the Russian Federation does not rule out strengthening measures to regulate the import of fruits and berries as the domestic market is saturated with domestic products, Interfax reports, citing statements by Deputy Minister of Agriculture Andrei Razin.
The official said that it is possible to regulate the market and close off from external supplies only if they are fully confident in ensuring their own consumption by their own production.
"This is an important factor. Of course, further increase in production is critically important for us," Razin said at a round table in the Federation Council.
Recall that the ban on the supply of agricultural products, including fruits and berries, from unfriendly countries is valid until December 31, 2024.
The Deputy Minister said that regulatory measures in this regard have already been taken.
"It is clear that, taking into account the increase in production volumes, we will continue to look at how this issue can be regulated. I am sure that some additional measures will be taken," Razin said.
