A large accumulation of goods on the border of China and Kazakhstan has almost paralyzed the movement of freight trains. And in both directions, according to RBC.
Earlier, the Agribusiness News agency reported that Kazakhstan has imposed a ban on the rail transportation of goods to China through Dostyk station until November. This is due to the critical situation of accumulation of goods at the border.
According to Asia Import Group, serious problems also arise when sending goods through this station from China. That is, now it is almost impossible to deliver by rail from China to Russia through Kazakhstan. The large flow of Chinese goods and the shortage of railway platforms in Dostyk have led to the fact that goods stand at the station, waiting for reloading, for a month, and sometimes longer. If in Russia in the Far East they are trying to cope with this problem by using not only fitting platforms, but also gondola cars, then in Kazakhstan, as far as we know, there is no such possibility.
In general, the delivery of goods from China to Russia by rail is becoming less attractive. Serious delays, which amount to 2-3 weeks, are also still recorded at railway border crossings between Russia and China.
Therefore, when moving Chinese goods, road transport is now being used more and more actively. Large cargo flows have also affected the timing of automobile delivery. However, the delays at the border are not so serious in this case. At the moment, they take 3-5 days at most border crossings. And on some, for example, at the Suifenhe Border checkpoint, they are almost not recorded at all.
