The Eurasian Intergovernmental Council approved at a meeting on October 1 in Yerevan a roadmap for the implementation of the Main directions and stages of the coordinated (coordinated) transport policy of the member states of the Eurasian Economic Union for 2024-2026, the Association of International Road Carriers reports.
The roadmap defines joint measures of the Eurasian Economic Commission and authorized bodies in the field of transport to practically ensure the key strategic document – the Main directions and stages of the implementation of transport policy.
The measures of the roadmap are aimed at consistently deepening integration processes in the field of transport, namely, at achieving the goals of forming a single transport space and a common market for transport services in the Union.
In preparing the document, the experts proceeded from the peculiarities of the development of road, rail, air and water transport in modern conditions and assessed the possibility of convergence of their regulation, as well as industry-wide aspects of transport activities.
The document includes such significant measures as the formation of a list of "bottlenecks" of transport infrastructure in the territories of the EAEU countries in the directions "East– West" and "North–South" and the development of proposals to eliminate them. In addition, the countries plan to improve the law of the Union and the legislation of the member states for the introduction of electronic transport documents in the EAEU, including the abandonment of the use of paper documents in the field of transport and the transition to electronic data exchange.
In total, the document includes 33 points of measures agreed by the countries to be implemented in 2024-2026. They are a logical continuation of the previous three-year roadmaps for 2018-2020 and 2021-2023.
The heads of Government also instructed the Commission and the parties to continue consultations on a number of important areas of transport integration, in particular on air transport and human resources development, and after further elaboration to submit agreed measures to the Intergovernmental Council for consideration.
This work should be carried out by February 1, 2025. The elaboration of additional measures will not hinder the full implementation of the roadmap for 2024-2026, approved by the decree of the Intergovernmental Council.
